Krewe Des Chien is back following a year hiatus from the Mardi Gras scene.
Lafayette’s only dog parade was canceled last year after a change in management. Organizers who stepped down early last year had planned to have the parade come back after new leadership took over.
The Krewe is now ready to roll again in 2019 with a date of February 23 already set for the parade in Downtown Lafayette.
Krewe Des Chien has been around since 1998 and is a non-profit group that raises funds for animal assistance organizations in Acadiana.
According to their website, since the first parade for dogs, Krewe des Chien has benefitted many recipients and raised more than $400,000 in support of their mission.
The parade on February 23, 2018, will roll at 2:00 p.m. Those looking to register or support the krewe can do so by clicking here.
