Healing House; Hope for Grieving Children, is looking for volunteers to help grieving children and teens who have experienced the death of a parent or sibling. Interested volunteers must be 21 years of age, available two evenings out of each month, and able to attend the scheduled training series.

Healing House provides grief support groups for children in an atmosphere where they are allowed to express their grief through interactive play, expressive art work and discussion groups with peers experiencing the same trauma.  All services provided by Healing House are free of charge and run by trained volunteers.

Volunteers serve as support group facilitators for children ages 4 to18 and are instructed how to listen and respond appropriately to a grieving child.  A background or experience in mental health or counseling is not required.

The training will be held Friday, January 11, 2019, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm; and Saturday, January 12, 2019, from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm.

Volunteers are required to attend both days of the training series.

To register for training or to learn more about Healing House and the services we provide, call 337-234-0443, emailkim@healing-house.org, or visit their website www.healing-house.org.
