Free HUD Grant Writing Workshop offered in Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, La. – Lafayette Consolidated Government, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), hosted a grant writing workshop in Lafayette. The event was free and open to the public.

The workshop included key elements to prepare and compete for federal funding, understanding the grant application process, factors for award, board development, organizational capacity building, leveraging public/private funding, outcomes and performance measurement, and hands-on exercises in grant elements.

Attendees also learned about HUD programs, Office of Investigation, Community Development Block Grants Disaster Recovery Funds, other Federal and State Agencies, Local Parish Offices, Foundations, Banks, Lending Institutions and Institutions and other available resources.

“We want to see this area thrive,” Earl Randell, Field Office Director, US Department of Urban Development. “We’re doing some great things here in the state of Louisiana. Louisiana is becoming first on a lot of good lists so we’re excited to keep that momentum going and Lafayette is playing a huge part in that success throughout the state of Louisiana.”
