A couple is recovering after an alleged road rage shooting incident in Rayne.

Na’kedra Harrison and Jacoby White were driving on Highway 35 just north of Rayne when they say a truck drove in front of them, began flashing his rear lights, and then pointed a pistol at them out of his back single-cab window.

“I just don’t understand, like we didn’t do anything, we didn’t provoke him. We were just trying to pass him up because he was basically blinding us, we couldn’t see. And, he just started shooting,” said survivor Na’kedra Harrison.

Jacoby White, who was driving, was able to call 911 before the suspect allegedly began shooting.

He says four bullets hit the outside of the car, and one traveled through the front window striking Na’kedra in the arm.

“Yeah, once he started shooting I leaned to the side going toward my boyfriend and my hand was up a little bit and it hit me,” said Harrison.

After Na’kedra was picked up by an ambulance, Jacoby followed the driver into Rayne while still on the phone with police.

“If it wasn’t for me they wouldn’t have found him,” said White.

They believe the attack wasn’t the first time the driver showed aggression while on the road.

Harrison explained that another woman on Facebook commented that Nugent did the same exact thing to her and that she was glad police had finally caught him.
