Former owner, chef at Laura’s Cafe in Lafayette dies

The former owner of Laura’s Cafe in Lafayette has died.

72-year-old Dorothy Mae Broussard passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018, at Heart Hospital in Lafayette, according to an obituary.

Broussard was a self-taught chef and owner of Laura’s Cafe on Voorhies Street in Lafayette. She worked with her mother-in-law Laura Broussard for which the cafe takes its name. Read her full obituary here.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:00 am until 10:00 am on Thursday.

A rosary will be prayed at 8:00 am on Thursday.

Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge.  Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge, 211 Berard St., Breaux Bridge, LA 70517, (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
