Lafayette police Department radios went silent Monday at 10:20 pm.

That was the time one year ago tonight at which Cpl. Michael Middlebrook was killed in the line of duty.

“Tonight we remember, we reflect, and hold onto the great memories and the legacy Michael left for all of us. Let us pause a moment for quiet reflection,” Chief Toby Aguillard can be heard saying over the radio. “All units stay strong. One Clear.”

Cpl. Middlebrook was shot on Oct. 1, 2017, while responding to reports of a shooting at a convenience store on Moss Street.
