An arrest has been made following a shooting at the Dollar General Store Wednesday night in Iberia Parish.
Deputies say 23-year-old Joel Saenz is facing a charge of attempted second-degree murder.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the victim was in the store, preparing to leave, when he was approached by Saenz’s brother who started a fight. During the fight, Joel Saenz reportedly ran into the store and shot the victim once in the head. Saenz left the store after the shooting and was found at his home by deputies. Investigators believe there has been an ongoing dispute between the victim and Saenz.
The victim is in critical condition in a Lafayette hospital.
