To help keep schools safe this year the Lafayette Parish School System set aside 4 million dollars to have a cop on every campus.

Everyday these School Resource Officers(SRO) compile a stat sheet of the incidents they handle and report that information to the program supervisor at the Sheriff’s office.

Once a month the staff sergeant for the SRO program reviews these stats and puts together a security bulletin that he sends out to school administrators.

Part of the bulletin focuses on trends that the officers notice that students are battling such as Juul and sexting.

Superintendent Don Aguillard and school board members say these bulletins will help district employees and parents stay up to date when it comes to student safety at school.
