Later today, the St. Landry Parish School Board will officially declare a public emergency at Eunice Elementary School.
The declaration was approved by a committee last week after a fire damaged part of the school last month.

Board members will also decide whether to move forward with the district’s takeover of the Head Start program. If approved, the board will acquire land and buildings currently operated by Community Development Institute. The meeting starts at 5 p.m.
