ABITA SPRINGS, La. –  The Louisiana Craft Brewers Guild has announced the launch of its first collaboration brew as part of their Ensemble Series that will hit store shelves during Louisiana Craft Beer Week.

The Ensemble Series will be an annual release, brewed by members of the Louisiana Brewers Guild, according to a press release from the Guild. The brewers will come together each year and decide on the style and recipe and then brew the beer at the host brewery. Abita Brewing Company will be the inaugural host brewery on September 7 for the 2018 release and will oversee the production and packaging of the project. Abita Brewery will donate $7 from every case sold back to the Louisiana Craft Brewers Guild.

“We’re extremely excited to participate and have Abita as the inaugural host brewery for this collaboration,” said Abita President David Blossman, who is also the treasurer of the Louisiana Craft Beer Guild. “Being able to have all the great brewers from around the state work on a beer to release during Louisiana Craft Beer Week has been fun and helps our mission of strengthening the craft industry here.”

The 2018 Ensemble Release will be a Double IPA, which as the name suggests uses a ton of hops which delivers a strong brew with an intense hop aroma and comes in at 8% ABV, stated in the release. This Hazy IPA is made with Pale Malt, wheat, oats, sugarcane and Calypso, Lemondrop and Denali hops.

“There are 33 breweries that are members of the Guild and to be able to come together and work on a single brew that everyone can stand behind speaks volumes on how well we work together,” said Karlos Knott, President of Bayou Teche and the Guild. “The Guild is extremely appreciative of Abita volunteering as the host brewery for this initial release and for their substantial donation to the Guild,”

Be on the lookout for this limited release in six-pack bottles at select retailers throughout Louisiana starting September 24. A portion of the proceeds from each sale will benefit the Louisiana Craft Brewers Guild, and their mission to further the craft brewing industry within the state.
