Abbeville High School was placed on a partial lockdown following a fight at the school today.

The Vermilion Parish interim superintendent says two students were involved in a fight when the lockdown was called.

He said students were not allowed to leave the classroom until the students were separated. No one was injured in the fight, and the students, both girls, will be disciplined according to school board policy.

There also was a fight at the school yesterday. Abbeville Police Chief Bill Spearman said there were two fights at the school yesterday, and seven boys were arrested. One was booked with disturbing the peace by fighting, resisting arrest and battery on an officer. The other six were booked with disturbing the peace by fighting.

Spearman said there were no serious injuries. He said those fights were among two groups of children who live in two different neighborhoods and do not get along.
