Iberia Parish to conduct mosquito abatement operations

Beginning on Wednesday, August 22, the Iberia Parish Mosquito Abatement District will conduct aerial operations within the parish in an effort to control mosquito populations.

Operations will be held during the evening hours on Wednesday, August 22 in Jeanerette; Thursday, August 23 in Grand Marais; and Friday, August 24 in the Willow Wood area.

Aerial operations are expected to begin directly at sunset and last approximately one hour and a half.

The District advises that those who are hypersensitive or wish to avoid exposure to chemicals in these areas should refrain from outdoor activities. All others can proceed with normal evening activities.

Detailed information on locations for aerial operations from the District are as follows:

Wednesday (8/22) operations will focus in Jeanerette, specifically from the St. Mary parish line, Pecan Ln., Rightway Rd., Hwy. 90 & Back Rd. in the east to Sorrel Rd., Old Jeanerette Rd., Hwy. 182, Darnall Rd., and Ozenne Rd., E. Admiral Doyle and all points in between.

Thursday (8/23) operations will focus in Grand Marais, Rynella, Migues, Laurent, Lydia, Weeks Island Rd., College Rd., Collins Rd., Cora Ln. and all points in between.

Friday (8/24) operations will focus in Willow Wood, Daspit, Lucerne, Willow Wood park, Crochet Rd., Loreauville Rd., Bell Church Rd. and all points in between.
