Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot says a 9-year-old was shot shortly after 11 a.m. today.
Fontenot believes the child’s injuries are non-life threatening.
The chief tells us the child was not the intended target of the shooting.
Someone in a car was firing their gun at a car, and one round hit the car and two others hit the child, the chief said. The little boy was walking with three other children, but they weren’t hurt, the chief said.
The child is doing well and is in good spirits, the chief said. Neither of his gunshot wounds were in critical areas, he said.
The shooting happened on Boudreaux Street. Police are searching for persons of interest now.
