Last week we told you about an employee of The Blake being fired after her arrest for cruelty charges.

KATC Investigates has obtained the arrest affidavit for Karen Sonnier.

In it, Police say that The Blake called officers after they were given a video from the daughter of a resident. The resident, 80, was in the memory loss section of the facility.

The video showed the employee striking the woman twice in the head with an open hand. Police also saw the employee verbally berating the victim on the video, the affidavit states.

Officers called the employee and asked her to come to the police station for questioning. She did that, and watched the video with investigators, the affidavit states. She told investigators that she didn’t touch the resident, but smacked her hands together to scare the woman – because, she alleges, the resident had bitten her.

Sonnier was placed under arrest and booked into LPCC. She has since been released.
