Coast Guard rescues one, searches for another in Lake Pontchartrain

The Coast Guard says they are still searching Lake Pontchartrain for a woman who went missing in the lake on Sunday evening. One other person was rescued this morning.

A 34-foot unmanned sailboat was reported to the Coast Guard near Lakefront Airport on Sunday evening. The sailboat, the Good Humor, was found with two cell phones and a dog on board. A search for the vessel’s occupants began on Sunday and lasted through the night, according to a release.

Officials say 43-year-old Michael Lee Farley was pulled from the water in good condition Monday morning. He was transported to the New Orleans Coast Guard Station. 

Crews are still searching for 32-year-old Sadie Thibodeaux.

Station New Orleans 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boatcrew, Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew, Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, Jefferson Sheriff’s Marine Unit are involved in the search.
