The Harvest Center Church in Lafayette was accepting school supply donations today, and is offering school supplies for students through Tuesday.

The church is located at 903 E Simcoe Street.

Johanna Zeno, board minister, said the church wants to support its community.

"We are in a location where there is poverty, and we want to be sure we’re representing giving and loving," she said. "We want to give the children something, even if it’s just a few school supplies to start off the year. A lot of kids aren’t as fortunate as others, but we love them, and we care."

Board minister Shavonda Martin said the church focuses on the idea of leaving no child behind.

"We want everyone to start off the school year with new uniforms and school supplies," she said. "If we can make that happen we want to do that. We want to put a smile on their faces, we want them to see that we, as a church, care about them."
