St. Martin Parish Crime Stoppers: Information sought in double homicide

St. Martin Parish Crime Stoppers is asking the public for Information on a double homicide.
 
On July 30 at 8:15 p.m. in St. Martinville, a 911 call was received by a passing motorist who reported there were two men in a vehicle on the side of the road who appeared to have been shot, according to detectives. Demarcus Joseph Fontenette, 36, of New Iberia, was dead; and the second victim, Rusty Joseph Allen, 39, of New Iberia, was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries. Allen died on Wednesday. 

The victims who were driving a four-door black Honda Civic were traveling from New Iberia to St. Martinville on Hwy. 31, while being followed by a second vehicle, according to detectives. The victims’ vehicle was shot at several times in the 7300 block of Hwy., 31., by an unknown number of occupants in the second vehicle.    
 
If anyone who may have been traveling in the area at the time of the shooting has any information regarding this incident, or who may have information on the suspect or suspect’s vehicle, they are asked to contact the St. Martin Crime Stoppers.
