Construction is underway at the Bayou Teche Museum in New Iberia.
Crews broke ground to begin working on the Doc Voorhies Wing.
Phase One of the renovations will include a balcony over the sidewalk in front of the building.
The teacher the building is named after says he hopes people come to see the many groups who made New Iberia.
"The new wing is going to allow for traveling exhibits, for a Kathleen Blanco exhibit and especially, I’m a teacher, putting a classroom into the building," Donald Voorhies, Math Teacher, Catholic High School.
