A St. Mary Parish councilman was arrested on a misdemeanor charge today in Berwick, according to Police Chief James Richard.
James Bennett was arrested on a charge of remaining after being forbidden, said Richard.
He allegedly would not leave a residence in Berwick.
Police officers were contacted and he was arrested and booked into the Berwick Jail on a $300 bond.
Bennett represents District 7 for St. Mary Parish.
