The Jennings Fire Department needs help.
There is one paid firefighter position open, and there also is a need for volunteers in all positions, Chief Hulin Theriot said. The department is a mix of paid and volunteer positions, he explained.
The department provides on-the-job training for volunteers, so you don’t need experience. There are volunteer slots fighting fires, but also for other jobs like holding hoses, driving and support, the chief said.
"There are a lot of jobs we need people to do at fires," he said.
If you’re interested in helping the fire department and your community, call the fire station at 821-5508 or stop by and talk to the chief or the firefighters on duty. You also can go to the department’s weekly drill, which happens each Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
