Changes proposed for Abbeville open container ordinance

The city of Abbeville will consider changing to its open container ordinance.  The amendment was introduced after the smoking ban ordinance was passed by the city council; it would allow patrons to have a drink just outside a restaurant or bar in the downtown area.  The council will vote August 7, 2018.  The smoking ban goes into effect September 1, and it states no one can smoke inside any building open to the public.
