An Acadia Parish firefighter will be laid to rest today.
Firefighters say 28-year-old Azalie "Nicole" Meche died of cancer.
She passed away at her home in Branch early Friday morning.
Meche was a volunteer firefighter in the community of Branch.
Visitation will be held at the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Funeral services will follow.
According to a post on the Branch Volunteer Fire Department’s Facebook page, local firefighters helped wash Branch’s firetrucks for the procession.
