A man from Mississippi is dead following an officer-involved shooting in Pineville Saturday afternoon.
The Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigation in Alexandria responded to the shooting at noon after being requested by the Ball Police Department to handle the investigation.
A spokesman for Troop E says a Ball police officer stopped 32-year-old Michael Neal on U.S. Hwy. 165 for a traffic violation.
According to the spokesman, a pursuit then ensued, ending on Anderson Street where Neal was shot.
Neal was taken to the hospital in critical condition. He died at 7:50 p.m.
The officer was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
