The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office is alerting parish residents to a scam using impersonating the 16th Judicial District court and the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say there is currently a telephone scam in progress using a local 16th Judicial District Judge’s name and the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office. An automated call advises that the person contacted has a warrant for their arrest issued by a local judge which will be executed by the Sheriff’s Office for missing court.  The warrant can be recalled for $600 by calling a number which appears to be local.

The automated response allegedly identifies the number as a non-emergency number for the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office and gives several extensions the caller can press for service.

Deputies are advising that this is a scam and anyone who has been contacted by this automated call should not give any information or money.

Persons with questions regarding a warrant can call the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office during regular hours at the published telephone number (337) 369-3714. Anyone who may be a victim can call the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office non-emergency telephone numbers (337) 608-9440 or (337) 369-3711.
