Man arrested in connection with June shooting in Breaux Bridge

Breaux Bridge Police say they have arrested a man wanted in connection with a shooting in June. Police say they arrested 18-year-old Demarcus O’Neil Smith of Breaux Bridge in connection with the shooting. He was arrested on five counts of attempted second-degree murder along with aggravated criminal damage to property. Police do not say if anyone was injured or where the shooting happened.Smith was arrested after receiving a tip Monday afternoon. The Breaux Bridge Police Department in conjunction with Lafayette City Marshal’s Office, Lafayette City Police Special Investigations Unit, and United States Marshal’s Office Task Force executed an arrest warrant at a residence in Lafayette.Smith has been booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. Another suspect Brisen Jones is also wanted on the following charges.  Carrying of Firearm by Convicted Felon 5 Counts Principal to Attempted Second Degree Murder Principal to Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property Aggravated AssaultRead our original story here.
