High school football season is around the corner and the LHSAA is in need of officials.Statewide, officials associations are seeing shortages because older officials are retiring and new officials aren’t signing up. This year, the Lafayette Football Officials Association is adding an incentive to recruit new referees."Normally we have a $50 membership fee for our association, but for our association, we are waiving the fee for any new official who would like to come out and join us. They still have to pay their state dues but we are waiving our fee," said Keith Junot of the Lafayette Football Officials Association. The Lafayette association meets every Monday night at Girard Park.Registration deadline for football officials is August 6, 2018.
