On Monday, Farm Bureau is hosting a Free Child Safety Seat Installation clinic. Certified technicians will be at the Farm Bureau on the I-49 Service Road in Opelousas from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. They will check to be sure your seat is properly installed.
Wednesday, La Table Francaise will take place at the Whiteville School House on East Landry Street in Opelousas. You can have a cup of coffee and a French conversation; the event runs from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
On Thursday, SLCC’s Corporate College will offer an informational session on training opportunities in the Continuing Education program. The event begins at 10 a.m. at the Opelousas Campus, 332 E. South Street. There are thousands of jobs available in south Louisiana in truck driving, healthcare, and construction, but the area is faced with a lack of people with the necessary training to fill those positions, SLCC says. SLCC’s Corporate College offers continuing education programs to give Acadiana’s underemployed and unemployed short-term training to meet the demands of employers.
