A look ahead to next week: Across Acadiana

Here’s a look at some of the events and activities taking place across Acadiana this week.

On Monday,  the Town of Iota will be shutting off the water system at approximately 6:00 a.m. to replace two fire hydrants and make repairs to the system.  A boil advisory will follow when the water is turned back on and the public will be notified when the system is back up social media, TV and radio. Please call town hall at 779-2597 if you have any questions.

Tuesday, the Village of Maurice will hold its general meeting at 6 p.m. in the village hall. On the agenda is an ordinance to issue $8.2 million in sewer revenue bonds, and an ordinance to regulate false alarms. A contractor will provide a report on water and sewer improvement projects, and a request for assistance from the state’s water fund program. 

There will be an open house/public meeting on Wednesday to discuss the proposed construction of two single lane roundabouts at the interchange of U.S. 90 and La. 88 in Iberia Parish. The meeting will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Prompt Succor on Coteau Road in New Iberia. The purpose of the meeting is to provide information about the project and to obtain input from interested parties.

On Thursday, the McComb- Veazey Annual Meeting will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. The Coterie will be celebrating its 10 year anniversary, with recognition planned for founding members and volunteers. If you plan to go, the group asks that you reserve a ticket by clicking here

Also on Thursday, the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home in Jennings will host a Korean War Commemorative Ceremony. It begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Great Gathering Room. There will be refreshments following the ceremony. 

Chez Hope is hosting a fundraiser on Friday at at the Cade Community Center. The Second Annual Trivia Night will raise money to establish a domestic violence shelter for Iberia and St. Martin parishes. Doors open at 5 p.m., trivia starts at 6 p.m. Tickets are $150 for a table for a team of six. There are table decorating contests, a raffle, door prizes, food, music and auctions.
