Lafayette Police are reminding residents to lock their doors to keep burglars at bay.

According to Lafayette Police, within the last week, the Lafayette Police Department has responded to 32 reported vehicle burglaries.

Of those, the PD says 16 involved unlocked vehicles. Four guns were allegedly stolen during those burglaries.

Because of these burglaries, Lafayette Police are urging our citizens to lock vehicles at all times and never leave a firearm inside.

Also in Lafayette Parish, The Carencro Police Department has been reminding residents to keep vehicles locked at night along with keeping valuables out of sight and an exterior home light on.

Their announcements each night are to help deter crime in the neighborhoods in Carencro.
