Morgan City Police say a Schriever man has been arrested, accused of exploiting the infirmed after restoration work on a 1957 Chevy Bel Air was never completed.

According to Police, 59-year-old Keith Pope was asked to restore a 1957 Chevy Bel Air for the victim of Morgan City. That car was transported to Pope’s shop in Schriever where work was to be completed. It was at that time that Pope allegedly received payment of over $120,000 from the victim.

Police say that work was never completed.

Warrants for Pope’s arrest stemmed from that investigation which began in February. Officials with the Morgan City Police Department and Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office say a search warrant was conducted at Pope’s shop and evidence was taken in for review.

An investigation is ongoing.

Pope was arrested in Terrebonne Parish but has been transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked.
