I-10 East was shut down early this morning in Sulphur after a man climbed up onto a roadway sign.

The stretch of I-10 from Beglis Pkwy to La. 108 was closed for about two hours this morning as several agencies worked to get the man to come down from the sign. According to KPLC, the man has surrendered to police and has been brought down from the sign. Police told KPLC that the man had climbed onto the sign due to a domestic dispute.

During the incident, motorists were being diverted off at LA 27, onto LA 108, and then back to I-10 East.

The man, according to KPLC, was taken to a hospital. Traffic on I-10 has returned to normal.
