According to DOTD I-49 North was closed at LA 93 near Grand Coteau due to an 18-wheeler fire. Police in Sunset, along with State Police now say that the left lane remains closed and traffic is moving.
The roadway will be back open and cleared in about 30 minutes according to State Police.
Drivers were being diverted at La 93 to the I-49 Frontage Road and then onto LA 3233 (Harry Guilbeau Road) before returning to I-49 North.
Video from a witness shows an 18-wheeler with a burned out cab. The fire has been put out and no injuries were reported. Police remain on scene of the accident and another crash near this incident
I-49 North is closed at LA 93 (Grand Coteau) due to an accident. Motorists are being diverted at LA 93 and taking the I-49 Frontage Road to LA 3233 (Harry Guilbeau Road) to return to I-49 North. Congestion has reached approximately three miles in length.
