Flooding advisory issued for Iberia and St.Mary Parish

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for the Northwestern part of Iberia Parish and Northwestern St. Mary Parish until 5:30 pm.

The flooding is being caused by heavy rains moving through the area. The National Weather Service indicates that these rains will cause urban and small stream flooding in the advisory area. Up to three inches of rain have already fallen.

The following are locations that will experience flooding: New Iberia, Franklin, Jeanerette, Avery Island, Baldwin, Sorrel, Glencoe, Lydia and Charenton.

NWS says that additional rainfall of 1-2 inches is possible over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
