Athletes from the Acadiana Area were among 70 Olympians from Louisiana who attended the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games.
Overall, 70 athletes, 28 unified partner and 31 coaches from the entire state of Louisiana were chosen to attend. The games were held June 30th-July 6th, 2018 in Seattle, WA.
There were nearly 3,000 athletes and 1,000 coaches, 10,000 volunteers and delegates from all over the country that attended and competed in the 2018 USA Games. About 10,000 family and friends, as well as 70,000 spectators were also present.
Louisiana athletes worked hard to bring home 63 Gold medals, 43 Silver medals, 33 Bronze medals, 19 Fourth Place Ribbons, 20 Fifth Place Ribbons, 6 Sixth Place Ribbons, and 1 Seventh Place Ribbon.
