Lafayette Regional Airport will see some changes this fall that could change the way you travel. Frontier Airlines will offer service to Lafayette Regional Airport, flying to and from two new cities.

The announcement came as a pleasant surprise to many who prefer to use Lafayette Regional for convenience.

"Its 30 minutes from my front door, convenient, saves time, time is money," says a regular traveler at the airport.

Frontier plans to save people time and money with direct flights to Denver and Orlando starting at $39.

"39 dollars, I don’t remember ever getting a flight that cheap. That’s good," says Olivia Vallrie, an airport traveler.

"There’s a lot of reasons you would go to both of those cities so it’s just helping Lafayette connect to more places around America," says Lafayette Mayor-President Joel Robideaux.

It isn’t just about getting travelers out of Lafayette.

"Anyone who wants to experience any of our festivals any of our food, they can hop on the plane and get those experience, so it’s not just Lafayette going to Denver or Orlando it’s an opportunity for those guys to come here," says Robideaux.

Incoming travelers could mean a boost to the local economy plus frontier has plans to bring some of their employees to the city. Tickets are available for purchase right now on Frontier’s website. Flights begin in October with trips running two days a week.

"Routing will be the aircraft will depart from Orlando, come to Lafayette, Lafayette to Dender, turn around and come back to reverse its course, Lafayette to Orlando. That’ll run on Wednesdays and Saturdays," says Steven Picou, Executive Director at Lafayette Regional.

This is seasonal with flights for purchase through mid-November. If the flights are popular, Frontier plans to continue and possibly expand the program.
