One organization is helping students with down syndrome pursuing a degree at UL Lafayette.

The Down Syndrome Association of Acadiana gave the university’s Life Program $2,000 to help their students.

The Reaching for the Stars scholarship will help pay for a student’s education.

"It’s fantastic and I feel very lucky that I get to see their day-to-day on campus and how much growth that these students have from their first day to their last day, said Caroline Jurisich, Lead Coordinator, UL Life Program.  "They’ve become more confident in own skills academically and socially, and really in their independence."
