A legislative audit is uncovering what auditors say could be illegal payments at Fenton Village hall.
The audit says Mayor Eddie Alfred, Jr. received $15,000 in excess compensation and borrowed village funds for personal use.
Auditors also say that police chief Luther Alfred received $22,000 dollars in improper overtime payments.
The audit states that a former clerk took nearly $6,000 more than her salary including two checks with forged signatures while an administrative assistant stashed $10,000 in traffic fines in her desk.
