In court for arraignment on 1 charge, arrested on another

ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) – The legal problems for a man facing a felony bank fraud charge in connection with a highly touted Louisiana development project became more complicated after he showed up for his arraignment.
  
The Town Talk of Alexandria reports that Roger Dale Boggs arrived for his arraignment in Alexandria on Friday without an attorney. He asked for a delay and a judge re-set the arraignment for July 23.
  
But Boggs was then arrested on a fugitive warrant out of Lafayette.
  
The newspaper reports the Lafayette case involves a charge of unauthorized use of a moveable property.
  
Boggs gained notoriety in Rapides Parish with a promise to build a $1.5 billion plant in Pineville. The plan, announced in 2015, never materialized.
  
Now, Boggs, 49, who has an address in Mobile, Alabama, faces the bank fraud charge in connection with that plan.
  
Louisiana authorities allege that Boggs, the CEO of a company called Revolution Aluminum, mortgaged a piece of property he owned in another state, then transferred that property to a relative. Other creditors also alleged that he borrowed money to buy property for the plant and that money never was repaid.
  
He eventually was forced into bankruptcy, owing creditors more than $6 million.
  
Boggs told state District Judge Greg Beard at Friday’s proceeding that he had hired an attorney but had not yet retained him.
  
Beard granted a delay in arraignment, warning Boggs that the date was firm.
