A young man from Pierre Part is dead following a car crash in Iberville Parish today.
State Police Troop A responded to the crash at noon.
Troopers say 21-year-old Tyler Cavalier was driving southbound behind a tanker truck on LA 1 in Plaquemine.
Cavalier hit the tanker truck from behind after it came to a stop at a railroad crossing, according to a spokesperson for Troop A.
The victim died at the scene. Troopers say he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this crash, but a toxicology sample was taken from both Cavalier and the driver of the tanker truck.
Troopers would like to remind motorists to remain alert and maintain a safe following distance when traveling.
