The Duson Police Department is reaching out to the community through a little bit of horticulture.

Outside the Duson Police station, officers planted about 10 tomato plants. The plants were purchased and are being cared for by officers once their shifts are over.

The plus side for residents is that the cultivated fruit from these plants will go directly to the people of Duson.

The department, on Facebook, says that the project is a way of improving community interactions.
