Today, the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission voted to change the recreational red snapper season to weekends-only.

The change will go into effect after the July 8 closure.

The weekend-only season will include Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays beginning on July 13, 2018.

The change was made after statistics recorded by LA Creel showed that approximately 299,061 pounds or 40 percent of Louisiana’s allocation has been harvested to date. These numbers, according to LDWF, covers the preliminary estimates for the period through June 24.
