A commercial fishing vessel was assisted by the Coast Guard after it began taking on water 115 miles south of Cameron on Monday.
The Coast Guard says that on Monday evening watchstanders in the Houston-Galveston sector were contacted by the vessel Jennifer Lynn 8 for assistance after the vessel began to take on water.
A Coast Guard cutter and airplane were sent to the scene. The Coast Guard says that they were able to pass a dewatering pump to the vessel and the boat’s crew was able to patch the source of the flooding and reduce the flow of water.
The boat is now under its own power and propulsion.
