There is a new mayor and five new council members in St. Martinville.
The leaders were sworn in on Saturday at a ceremony in front of the courthouse.
Mayor Melinda Mitchell is the city’s first elected female mayor.
She hopes to attract new businesses and families to the community and boost the economy.
Mitchell says she appreciates the opportunity to serve.
