Thrive365 is hosting their first ThriveFest, a workout competition for cancer survivors, on September 15.

The event will be at St. Thomas More Catholic High School High School at 9 a.m.

Thrive365 works with Oncologics, Miles Perret Cancer Services, Hospice of Acadiana Center for Loss and Transition and HIT with HJ to improve the overall health of cancer survivors with a special focus on nutrition and physical fitness. The primary objective of this program is to provide a basis for cancer survivors to minimize the risk of death due to cardiovascular disease and decrease the risk of cancer recurrence.

Any cancer survivor is eligible for the program as long as they are able to participate in a moderate-intensity workout program. The program mandates three exercise sessions per week, consisting of interval training classes tailored to the needs of survivors. Each participant will have at least one dietary consultation at the beginning of the program with additional visits on an as-needed basis.

This program is and will remain free of charge to participants through fundraising efforts, which ThriveFest will kick off. The event will include an interval-style workout competition to directly benefit the programs associated with Thrive365.

Thrive365 estimates at least 175 in attendance.
