Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire resigned from the department.

The chief turned in her resignation letter to the mayor Wednesday.

Mayor Raymond Harris, Jr said "Chief McGuire has done an outstanding job for the city and was an out standing chief.  Franklin has benefited as her being chief."

McGuire’s resignations comes weeks after Mayor-elect Eugene Foulcard announced that he wanted to go a different direction with the police department. To read our story about that, click here

McGuire’s official resignation doesn’t take effect until Saturday.

Due to civil services laws Lt. Tina Dantin will automatically take over as interim chief.   The new mayor and council will have to hire the new police chief.
