The Teche Growers Association held a safety seminar Wednesday on the importance of calling before digging.
The seminar was to inform the public about what to do before digging into the ground for any reason. The organization says that agriculture and industry must communicate about these types of actions on properties. Louisiana has underground pipeline throughout the state and making a call before digging can prevent any issues with those pipes.
Teche Growers along with First National Bank held the meeting in Jeanerette starting at 5:30 p.m. Representatives from Louisiana One Call or Louisiana 811 and agricultural and industrial officials were on hand to make presentations.
