Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz announced today that his office has been approved for funding for dash cams.

The grant is coming from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program in the amount of $15,238.

"This grant will fund and add five new in-car video cameras and all the hardware needed to function to the current fleet.  These new cameras have the capability to video and record front of the police unit and the rear," Guidroz said. "In establishing financial assistance programs, Congress linked the receipt of federal funding to compliance with federal civil rights laws. In the last 10 years, the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office has been the recipient of over $1,000,000.00 dollars in state and federal grants."

Guidroz credited Marshall Moreau, his administrative assistant, who "works tirelessly" to find grant opportunities for the Sheriff’s Office.

"His hard work and dedication to duty has been paying off for the St. Landry Parish taxpayers," the sheriff said.
