Home football games at Breaux Bridge High School may be sacked for the upcoming football season.  Installation of artificial turf on the football field is on hold at this time.  Officials say a dispute over the shock pad that supports the artificial turf has the project delayed.

"The SMPSB is in the process of completing athletic facility upgrades at BBHS, which includes the addition of a turf football field.  The architect on the project and the contractor installing the turf field have encountered some difficulties in the approval and application of a shock pad.  The shock pad must meet certain standards and specifications as outlined in the bid document, and the SMPSB is ensuring that those standards and specifications are met.  The recent board meetings were used to make certain that we had a process in place to ensure satisfaction of those standards and to make certain that the project was finished timely.  We are currently awaiting tests results for the shock pad at issue.  Those results should be available by July 1, 2018.  If the tests indicate that the current shock pad is substandard, the SMPSB will require that an alternate shock pad be used.
