Richard Harrison of History Channel’s ‘Pawn Stars’ dead at 77

Star of the History Channel’s popular series "Pawn Stars" and co-owner of Gold & Silver Pawn in Las Vegas, Richard Benjamin Harrison, has died. He was 77.

According to the pawn shop’s Facebook page, Harrison, also known as ‘The Old Man’ on the show died on Monday surrounded by his family. 

The series debuted on the History Channel in 2009 and has been running for a total of 15 seasons. According to the History Channel, Harrison opened the store with his son in 1988 after retiring from the military and moving to Las Vegas for a fresh start. Richard, his son Rick and grandson Corey ran the store together, their daily antics documented during the series. 

Gold & Silver Pawn’s post concludes by saying, " He will be remembered as the best father, grandfather, and great-grandfather you could have by his family and by fans as the sometimes grumpy (always loving, however), often wisecracking, and voice of absolute reason on the History television show ‘Pawn Stars’."
