A New Iberia woman has been booked with numerous counts after deputies say she opened credit cards under a local business’ name and used it to charge more than $900,000.
Michelle Lewis, 42, was booked with bank fraud, theft, forgery and identity theft. She remained in the parish jail this morning in lieu of $255,000 bond.
A spokesman for the Iberia Sheriff’s Office said deputies allege she used the credit cards to pay personal expenses, and that she also used money from the business to pay her personal bills.
